An Egg Harbor Township man charged with killing a man in 2010 had his first court appearance Tuesday afternoon.
Jerome Byrd, 29, allegedly shot Scott Godfrey, 21, outside a convenience store in Pleasantville on May 10, 2010, while in possession of drugs.
Byrd was arrested without incident about 8:30 p.m. Monday at a mobile home on the 6000 block of the Black Horse Pike, acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain said.
Godfrey was a Pleasantville High School graduate who played for the school's football team.
Byrd had a brief appearance before Superior Court Judge Michael Donio on Tuesday and said he did not have an attorney. He was not sure if he would need a public defender.
He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $1 million full cash bail.
