Police are investigating an accident that closed the northbound lane of the Garden State Parkway for a few hours Tuesday evening.

At 4:12 p.m. a motorist entered the parkway at exit 40 in Galloway from the White Horse Pike, but then lost control of her vehicle and struck a pole, according to Sgt. Brian Polite of the New Jersey State Police. The northbound lanes were closed for about two hours before Atlantic City Electric cleared the scene, he said.

Northbound traffic was diverted to the Atlantic City Expressway exit while the roadway was blocked, he said.

No injuries were reported and the accident is under investigation, police said.
