Police are investigating shots fired just a few blocks from the police station.
A caller told police they heard about 10 shots and saw two men walking from the area, Lt. Skip Williams said.
But when those two men were detained, police found one had actually been grazed slightly by two bullets — once to the leg and once to the foot, Williams said. The man refused medical attention.
Two men, whose names were not released, said they were walking on the 100 block of Second Street at about 6:20 p.m. when they heard popping as they got to West Adams Avenue, Williams said. They ran to the 200 block of Second Street before realizing one had been struck.
Police canvassing the area found five shell casings along West Adams Avenue, which were highlighted by yellow markers at the scene.
Williams said police were told that a white car was seen driving away on Adams, but that they had not been able to confirm that.
