Galloway police responded to a three-car accident Thursday morning.

The accident occurred at 10:44 a.m. on Pitney Road south of Collins Road when 67-year-old township resident Dorothy Johnson was rear ended by Lauren Falivene, 24, of Port Republic, police said in a release.

The impact of the crash caused Johnson’s vehicle to move into incoming traffic and she was struck by a car driven by Virginia Ferris, 57, of Galloway Township, police said.

All three vehicles suffered extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene, police said.

All three drivers were wearing seatbelts and their air bags deployed.

Ferris had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for chest pain, police said. The other drivers declined medical treatment, police said.

Falivene was issued a summons for careless driving and police are continuing to investigate.
