VINELAND – City police are searching for two men allegedly involved in the armed robbery of a gas station here Sunday night.
Police said the incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. at the Gulf station in the 3900 block of North Delsea Drive.
The two men went to the counter and asked station attendant Parlninder Singh for cigarettes, police said. One of the suspects then pulled a handgun from his coat as Singh, a local resident, opened the cash register, they said. The two men took about $30 and fled westbound on Weymouth Road, they said.
Before they fled the scene, Singh said one of the suspects grabbed his phone and threw it to the floor, causing it break apart, police said. Police said Singh then put the phone back together and called local authorities.
Singh was not injured in the incident, police said.
The investigation is being conducted by the Police Department’s Mayor Crime Units. Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call the Police Department at 856-691-4111.
