The state Department of Transportation will begin preliminary onsite work to pave nine miles of the Black Horse Pike in Folsom and Hamilton Township Monday.

The resurfacing project will stretch from Eighth Street in Folsom to Route 50 in Hamilton Township. The contractor A.E. Stone, of Egg Harbor Township, will begin preliminary construction work on Monday, which will require shoulder closings.

The actual construction on the $4.3 million project will begin later and some lanes will be closed while work is done between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.

Access to all businesses and residences on the pike will be maintained throughout construction, which should be completed in early 2014.

Residents can check on updates to the project at http://www.511nj.org.
