GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — Presentation of a plan to build houses on the former Blue Heron Pines East championship golf course has been postponed for several weeks, according to the property owners.
“We don’t plan to make a presentation,” said David M. Goddard, president and CEO of Ole Hansen and Sons Inc. The township had planned to discuss the project at its Thursday night meeting. It now may be heard at the Feb. 7 meeting.
The company has sought township Planning Board approval to rezone the 410-acre tract from an age-restricted development to all-ages. The company previously received approval to build 944 residences, including 566 single family homes, 236 semi-detached units and 142 apartments, but shelved the project as the economy and market for age-restricted homes slumped.
The company’s new $233.2 million proposal is essentially an all-ages version of its earlier project, according to filings.
A company-sponsored report by Richard P. Reading Associates of Princeton suggested the development would add about 2,587 people to the 39,050-person township, including 248 grade-school children and 117 high school-age children.
