The Rhode Island-based Metcalf Insti-tute for Marine and Environmental Reporting selected The Press of Atlantic City reporter Sarah Watson as one of 10 journalists to attend the institute’s 15th annual Science Immersion Workshop for Journalists: Global Change in Coastal Ecosystems at the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography in June.

The institute selected reporters from the U.S., Kenya and China, and it will provide training June 9-14 to interpret scientific data, understand basic methods of scientific research, cultivate scientific resources and develop their investigative reporting skills at Narragansett Bay.

Watson, who started at The Press in April 2010, primarily covers the environment and the region’s recovery from Hurricane Sandy.
