The state Division of Criminal Justice has put the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office in charge of the fatal shooting of a 6-year-old boy in Toms River on Monday.

Paul Loriquet, a spokesman for the state Attorney General's Office, said the investigation was transferred after a call was received from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office "asking that the case be transferred because of a conflict of interest."

Loriquet added that the conflict was "some type of relationship" within the OCPO.

The ACPO  is in the process of gathering all relevant information from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office- who was in charge of the investigation.
