Scott Kreeger, a former Las Vegas marketing executive, has been appointed president and chief operating officer at Revel Casino-Hotel.

Revel Entertainment Group made the announcement Thursday morning, saying the board of directors has made the appointment. The Press of Atlantic City reported on the move last month when sources confirmed that interim CEO Jeffrey Hartmann would leave Revel after a six-month stint that included leading the casino through bankruptcy restructuring.

Kreeger has been with Revel since July, serving as interim chief operating officer. He has previously served in operational and senior leadership roles with Station Casinos and Fertitta Entertainment. Prior to that, he had a long tenure as a gambling executive with MGM Mirage.

“Scott has demonstrated strong leadership and a keen understanding of the property and guest service since joining Revel, and we are pleased to have him join in a permanent capacity,” said Peter Murphy, chairman of Revel’s board.

Hartmann will return to Connecticut to run his hospitality and gambling consulting firm, the Hartmann Group, a news release stated. He led the property through its first back-to-back revenue gains in July and August after the introduction of the casino’s “You Can’t Lose” marketing campaign.

In September numbers released Thursday, Revel posted a 12 percent decline, on par with an overall casino revenue decline of nearly 13 percent across the city.

Revel initially marketed itself as a luxury resort first and a casino second, but that changed when the property emerged from bankruptcy earlier this year. Hartmann led the property as it revoked its no-smoking policy and revamped the property’s image as a more affordable casino hotel.

Kreeger was unavailable for an interview Thursday.
