Roadside sobriety checkpoints will begin in Northfield starting Wednesday, police said in a statement.

Capt. Daniel Mitchell said that officers will work with the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office to conduct the checkpoints, in which drivers will be asked to slow down and possibly stop.

The checkpoints will take place between Wednesday and Sept. 21, though the exact times, dates and locations will not be released yet.

Potential areas, however, could include major roadways such as Shore, New, Tilton and Mill roads.

All checkpoints will be highly visible.
