An RV fire in Absecon threatened a neighboring home before it was under control, police said.

The fire was reported at 116 N. Shore Road at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sgt. Daniel Gleason said in a statement.

An RV camper parked on the north side of the home was engulfed in flames and was threatening a neighboring shed as well as a home on the property.

The fire, which was quickly put ut by the Absecon Fire Department, was determined to be accidental by Fire Chief Joseph Smith and Assistant Chief Jerry Cohen.

As a result of the fire, traffic on Shore Road was interrupted for more than two hours.

Several unsuccessful attempts have been made to identify and contact the owner, and the fire is being investigated by Police Officer Kevin Craig.

Anyone with information about the owner can contact the Absecon Police Department at 609-641-0667.
