A teen wounded by gunfire Monday night told police it was unrelated to a fatal shooting that occurred about 10 minutes before he walked into the hospital.

The 17-year-old walked into the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus at before 9:30 p.m., with a gunshot wound to his shoulder, Sgt. Monica McMenamin said.

The teen, whose name is not being released due to his age, was treated and released.

He told police the shooting occurred on the 400 block of Robinson Avenue. That is still under investigation, McMenamin said.

His hometown was not immediately available.

At about 9:15 p.m., a Mays Landing man was found shot on Magellan Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released by authorities.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call the Detective Bureau at 609-347-5766. Information may also been called in anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234.
