Bricks showered onto the small south Philadelphia street and nearly cover a car parked out front. The houses on either side of the destroyed home are partly standing but a Philadelphia police department spokeswoman says they have been badly damaged.

Gas and electrical utility crews are trying to determine what caused the collapse. Rescue crews are combing through the rubble to see if anyone else may be trapped.

The area is being evacuated.
