MIDDLE TOWNSHIP — Six people were taken to area hospitals Monday afternoon after a two-car crash on Route 47, police Capt. John Edwards said.
Edwards said that while all six were seriously injured, there were no fatalities.
Edwards said the driver of a southbound Ford Taurus lost control of her car and crashed head-on into a northbound vehicle. He did not know the make or model of that vehicle.
The driver of the Taurus was ejected from the vehicle. She initially told rescuers that two other people were with her, but a search found the two she mentioned were not in the car at the time of the crash.
There were five people in the northbound vehicle.
Edwards did not know where the victims were from, although both cars had New Jersey license plates. The names of the victims were not available Monday, Edwards said.
Route 47 between Fulling Mill Road and Bayshore Road was closed for about four hours while the crash investigation continued.
