Six new probable cases of fungal meningitis have been reported in Cumberland County in the past 10 days, according to the Department of Health website.

Four of the cases were reported Friday. All patients are listed as recovering.

There have been 24 reported cases in Cumberland County this year, and one case in Atlantic County. Nine of the Cumberland County patients remain hospitalized. Only two of the state’s 31 cases have been confirmed as fungal meningitis; both are in Cumberland County. All other cases remain probable.

The meningitis cases are believed to be linked to tainted steroid injections.
