Six people were injured in a motor vehicle accident in Galloway Township Thursday evening.

The accident occurred at 6:04 p.m. at the White Horse Pike and Vienna Avenue when a  2004 Jeep Wrangler driven by Matthew Craig, of Galloway, left the eastbound lane of Route 30 in attempt to avoid a vehicle stopped in front of him, police said.

Craig’s vehicle struck a 1999 Dodge Durango driven by Linda Johnson of Mays Landing, police said. His vehicle then continued and hit a 1999 GMC Jimmy driven by Jose Felicano of Egg Harbor City.

Craig was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Johnson had injuries to her head and neck and was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Pomona.

All four people in Feliciano’s vehicle – including a 10- and 12-year-old – were also taken to the Pomona hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The right westbound lane of the pike was shut down for about two hours, police said. Craig was charged with careless driving and failure to maintain his lane.
