STAFFORD TOWNSHIP — Police have arrested a 20-year-old township woman after executing a search warrant on her vehicle where 100 bags of heroin were found.

Tuesday at 3:15 p.m., the Stafford Township Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit executed search warrants on the vehicle and home of Alesha A. Connelly in the Ocean Acres section.

Connelly had been driving a black Honda Accord when she was stopped by police on Nautilus Drive, police said.

During the search at Connelly's home, police said they found 27-year-old Richard Peyton, also of Stafford Township, in possession of marijuana less 50 grams and possession of narcotic prescription pills. It was also discovered that Peyton had outstanding warrants out of Toms River Municipal Court.

Connelly and Peyton were arrested and transported to Stafford Township police headquarters. Connelly was charged with possession of heroin and possession with the intent to distribute heroin. Her bail was set at $100,000 with no 10 percent option, police said.

She is at the Ocean County Jail, Toms River.

Peyton was charged with possession of marijuana less than 50 grams and possession of prescription narcotic drugs. He was later transported to Ocean County Jail by the Toms River Police Department.

The Stafford Township Drug Enforcement Unit was assisted by the Barnegat Township Narcotics Unit, Stafford Police Detective Bureau and Stafford Police Patrol Units.
