The New Jersey Turnpike Authority Board of Commissioners will vote Tuesday on a project for improvements to a boat ramp and parking area on Great Bay Boulevard in Little Egg Harbor Township.

The Division of Fish and Wildlife boat ramp is owned by the state Department of Environmental Protection and is located at the Great Bay Boulevard Wildlife Management Area, DEP spokesman Larry Hajna said.

The work included in the contract calls for construction of an aluminum sheet pile bulkhead system, timber boardwalk, crushed shell parking lot and a reinforced concrete boat ramp, NJTA spokesman Thomas Feeney said.

The NJTA was required to do the work as a condition of the permits secured for the widening of the Garden State Parkway, Feeney said.

Hajna said the project is also being done to improve public access under a Coastal Areas Facilities Review Act permit issued for widening of the Garden State Parkway.

The contract was advertised in November and 10 companies submitted bids. The bids ranged from $911,657 to $1,481,115, and the low bidder was South State Inc. of Bridgeton, Feeney wrote in an email.
