State Police said they arrested a Princeton man Wednesday afternoon after finding 60 bags of heroin in his SUV on the Atlantic City Expressway.

Troopers stopped to help a motorist on the side of the highway around 3:20 p.m. in Hamilton Township near milepost 17.8, but eventually conducted a search of the vehicle.

“An investigation (was begun) because the driver was basically acting in a suspicious manner,” said State Police spokesman Sgt. Adam Grossman.

Trooper Matthew Lowry found 60 bags of heroin, 10 smoking pipes and smaller amounts of cocaine and marijuana, Grossman said. It was about $800 worth of heroin, he said.

John Kogut, 49, of Princeton, was arrested and taken to the Atlantic County jail, where bail was set at $50,000.
