Steel Pier has emerged “unscathed” and is ready for its opening day Saturday, pier officials said.

The official opening day is Saturday, when the gates open at noon, but the entertainment complex will preview some of its eight new rides at a media event Friday.

Earlier this year, Jeff Guaracino, chief strategy and communications officer of the Atlantic City Alliance, said some media confused the Steel Pier with the heavily damaged Casino Pier in Seaside Heights.

Atlantic City officials and Pier ownership itself stressed that the Steel Pier was unaffected by the storm.

“People mistakenly believe that the damaged boardwalks and amusement piers they saw on broadcast news programs were in Atlantic City, which is not true,” a Steel Pier statement said. “Atlantic City is open for business.”

On Friday, Steel Pier will test out The Mix, a new thrill ride that spins like a propeller and swings riders out over the ocean. Amusement games will also be set up.
