Richard Stockton College’s William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy and The Press of Atlantic City are partnering to host multiple debates between the major-party candidates for state office in the fall election.

Candidates for governor, U.S. Senate and the 1st, 2nd and 9th legislative districts will be invited to debate on the college’s Galloway Township campus.

— Gov. Chris Christie, a Republican, and Democratic challenger Barbara Buono, a state senator.

— The candidates for the Oct. 16 special election for U.S. Senate, who will be decided in an Aug. 13 primary.

— The 1st District Legislative candidates, who include incumbent Democrats state Sen. Jeff Van Drew and Assemblymen Nelson Albano and Bob Andrzejczak. They will be opposed by Republican Senate candidate Susan Adelizzi Schmidt and Assembly candidates Sam Fiocchi and Kristine Gabor.

— The 2nd District’s Democratic state Sen. Jim Whelan, the incumbent, and Republican challenger Frank Balles. Also, incumbent Republican Assemblymen John F. Amodeo and Chris Brown and Democratic challengers Nick Russo and Vincent Mazzeo.

— In the 9th District, incumbent Republican state Sen. Christopher J. Connors and Assembly members Brian E. Rumpf and DiAnne C. Gove, and Democrat challengers Anthony Mazzella, for Senate, and Assembly candidates Peter Ferwerda III and Christopher J. McManus.

The dates, times and locations of the debates will be worked out with the individual campaigns.
