GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — A suspect in a missing person’s case failed in an escape attempt at a local hospital when he climbed into the ceiling in a bathroom but then fell through the ceiling tiles into a waiting room, police said.
Police arrested three suspects and rescued a missing person on March 30 after receiving a call from the victim claiming she was transported against her will from New York into Galloway Township.
The female victim called police saying she escaped her motel room, at America's Best Inn and Suites on the White Horse Pike, and ran into a nearby Dunkin' Donuts to call for help.
Police arrived and investigated, resulting in the arrest of Alex Jean, 27, and Franklin Lambert, 19, both of New York, and Kristen Moriarty, 20, of South Orange, N.J., on charges of hindering apprehension.
Jean had to be taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Campus, for medical treatment.
While at the hospital, he tried to escape, but was taken back into custody by police after he fell through the waiting room ceiling.
Police issued additional charges against Jean including escape and resisting arrest. He was taken into Atlantic County jail with bail set at $35,000.
