CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — Murder suspect Bernard E. Green turned himself in Monday, six days after he alleging shot and killed Villas resident Chris Turner.

Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor and Lower Township Police Chief Brian Marker said in a joint press release that Green "surrendered himself to the Cape May County Correctional Facility."

Turner, 44, was visiting a home on Ellery Road in the Villas section of the township Nov. 20 when he was shot multiple times.

Investigators believe that Turner, who lived on Alexander Avenue, was a guest at the Ellery Road residence when he and Green became involved in a confrontation that escalated into a physical altercation.

Turner was killed at the scene and Green fled, police said.

The shooting was reported at about 12:10 a.m.

Green, 30, also lives in the Villas on East Pacific Avenue and goes by the nickname "Peanut."

Green is charged with first-degree murder and if convicted faces 30 years to life in state prison for that offense. In addition, Green is charged with the second-degree burglary and weapons offenses and the third-degree crime of hindering.

He is being held in the county jail in lieu of $750,000 full cash and no bond.

Authorities are seeking a second man in the case, Kyle L. Timmons, 21, of East Pacific Avenue, on a hindering charge.

The crime scene is a single-family home in a residential section of the township.

Members of the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office, along with police in Lower Township and Middle Township, and the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit assisted in the investigation and attempts to locate Green before his surrender.
