Peter M. Brophy, lead local content producer/days, will serve as The Press’ interim executive editor, said publisher James W. Hopson. The Press is in the midst of a sale by longtime parent company Abarta Inc. to a yet unannounced buyer. The new owner will name an executive editor.

Borowski, who joined The Press four years ago, emphasized local news on the front page and started several features that told the stories of the people of the Atlantic City area. He also pushed for digital innovation, including new products such as, a digital tourism portal.

“I’ve spent nearly 40 years in the news business and Atlantic City has been the newsiest and best place to live. However, several opportunities surfaced after the sale was announced in January. This was one I couldn’t ignore,” Borowski said.

Hopson said “Neill Borowski has been an outstanding editor, and has made our news operation stronger in many ways in his time here. We wish him well in his new job. We are fortunate to have someone of Peter Brophy’s talent and experience to step in when Neill moves to his new assignment.”
