Three Galloway Township men were arrested Friday night after police found a loaded handgun during a motor vehicle stop.

Officers Anthony Abrams and James Karins stopped the car in the 400 block of Haddon Avenue at 8:23 p.m. on a motor vehicle violation.

The driver was identified as Jerry Grasty, 20, who was released from prison in August after serving 11 months on a previous weapons charge, state Department of Corrections records show.

Also in the car were Peter Thornton, 18, and Raymond Schaffer, 20.

All three were charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and jailed on $50,000 bail each. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Grasty was additionally charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and received two motor vehicle violations.

Grasty was arrested near his home in Liberty Court last June when he was stopped for biking violations and found with a .22-caliber handgun loaded with hollow-point bullets in his waistband, Galloway police reported at the time.

Police said Grasty got off the bike and ran, then fought with officers before being arrested, The Press of Atlantic City reported.
