Three were hospitalized after a Rio Grande crash involving a tow truck Monday afternoon, according to Middle Township police.

A Cape May Gulf tow truck, driven by Bruce Ellingsworth, 51, of West Chester, Pa., was heading north on Route 47 when it was struck by a sedan pulling onto Route 47 from Second Street.

The sedan was driven by Antonio Rodriguez, 67, and had one passenger, Karen Abdelazim, 47, both of Villas.

Rodriguez extricated from the sedan and airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus.

Ellingsworth and Abdelazim were transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.

Rodriguez was issued a summons for Careless Driving.
