Three state prison inmates were injured when the van they were riding in crashed in Cumberland County.

But authorities say none of the injuries is considered life-threatening.

State corrections department officials say the crash occurred around 2 p.m. Friday in Deerfield Township.

Eight inmates who had been part of a labor detail from South Woods prison were in the van, along with some prison staff members. The vehicle was headed back to the prison in Bridgeton when the accident occurred.

The three inmates were taken to a hospital, but details on their injuries were not disclosed. No staff members were injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
