LITTLE EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - Three township police officers delivered a baby boy Monday.

On Monday morning, police responded to a residence on Lake Crystalbrook Dr. for a female in labor. When police arrived at the home, the female was in labor and the baby was already crowning.

Sgt. David DiElmo, Patrolman Eric Nelson and Patrolman Thomas McAnney assisted the female as she gave birth inside her home before medical personal arrived.

Officers also assisted the baby after birth as the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, a news release stated.

The woman gave birth to a healthy 7 pound baby boy. Mother and son were then transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center by Quality Ambulance Service for further treatment.
