TUCKERTON— Local police are looking for a man and have issued a $10,000 warrant for his arrest connected to threats they say he made against a police officer.
William Schubert, 28, is wanted on the warrant that was signed Tuesday, according to a news release from Tuckerton Police.
Tuesday afternoon, Tuckerton Police Patrolman Brian Olsen was assigned the case to investigate a posting on a Facebook page that was a threat against a Tuckerton officer.
Olsen said he was given copies of the Facebook page and the postings made by Schubert and then contacted the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and based on the discussion with them issued a warrant for terroristic threats against Schubert. Olsen could not comment about the specifics of the threats against the unidentified officer.
Local law enforcement agencies checked several addresses in areas that Schubert had lived in the past, but he was not located, Olsen said. Police had previously been advised that Schubert was living in North Carolina, Olsen said.
Schubert is a 2002 Pinelands Regional High School graduate, according to Press of Atlantic City news archives.
The investigation is being led by Olsen and he said he is working with other agencies in an attempt to locate Schubert.
Tuckerton Police Chief Michael Caputo said the threats were concerning particularly because of recent events across the county connected to violence against police officers.
Caputo referenced Schubert’s personal Facebook page that has a photograph of him holding a handgun.
“Of course it’s concerning. Whether he’s living in Tuckerton or hundreds of miles away in North Carolina, we’re not going to put up with this,” Caputo said.
Anyone with information on Schubert’s location is asked to contact Tuckerton Police at 609-296-9416.
