Earling was driving a 2003 GMC Sierra pickup truck north on Odessa Avenue just north of Duerer Street at about 1 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle, police said. His vehicle crossed the center line and ran off the west side of the roadway, where it hit several objects before coming to a rest.

In another incident, 22-year-old Egg Harbor City resident Steven Michael III was driving a 1995 Toyota 4-Runner north on South Cologne Avenue shortly before 8 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle on the slush-covered roadway and slid headon into a 1997 Saturn SL driven by Eddeston, who was traveling south, police said.

Michael was treated on the scene and released.
