Two teenage cousins were wounded during an apparent robbery in Atlantic City on Saturday night.
Police responded to several reports of shots fired in the area of Ohio and Lincoln avenues at 10:37 p.m., and officers found an 18-year-old male shot in the thigh.
The city teen was conscious and told police his cousin may have been shot as well, Sgt. Monica McMenamin said.
Officer Matt Rodgers then found the second victim in the 400 block of Hobart Avenue with a gunshot wound to his leg, McMenamin said. He is a 19-year-old male also from the city.
Both were taken to the hospital, where the older victim was taken into surgery. The injury is not considered life-threatening.
McMenamin said Sunday morning that the names of the victims had not been released.
The men said they were on their way home and were approached by the suspect at gunpoint, McMenamin said. The suspect ordered the 19 year old victim into a nearby alley. The cousins were struck by gunfire as they ran.
The 19-year-old's sneakers were taken after he was shot.
The suspect is described only as a black male, late teens to early 20s, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head and partially concealing his face. He fled from the scene on foot.
A third male who was with the victims at the time of the shooting was not injured, McMenamin said.
