Millville’s downtown Arts District is getting a little more colorful, courtesy of what will be five new murals installed during the next few months.
Two of the completed murals will be dedicated during ceremonies Saturday.
Arts District Executive Director Marianne Lods said another should be finished this fall. Two more will be completed in the spring, she said.
“If funding is good, we keep on going from there,” she said.
The district has struggled through the economic downturn, as people do not have the extra money to spend on art. Downtown merchants developed a plan — which included the creation of a sort of joint customer base to help marketing ventures — last year to lure new customers to High Street.
While the mural program is not part of that effort, city officials hope it will also work to attract more people downtown.
Today’s mural dedications are scheduled for 5 and 5:20 p.m.
