Two men were rescued Saturday night after the 20-foot boat they were on sank about 1 mile off the Cohansey River in the Delaware Bay.
State Police Sgt. Jon Webb said Sunday that the men made a distress call indicating their boat was taking on water just before 6 p.m.
The State Police Marine Unit at Bivalve responded to the call along with the Coast Guard and rescue crews from Lower Alloways and Greenwich townships.
A State Police boat that was performing a security detail spotted the men within a half an hour clinging to a cooler in the water.
They were picked up by State Police and treated for hypothermia after being taken to Hancock Harbor.
Those rescued were Richard Stevens, 45, of Philadelphia, and Matthew Puglia, 21, of Plymouth Meeting, Pa.
