SOMERS POINT – Two city residents have been charged with multiple counts of criminal mischief and theft after they allegedly vandalized several properties, including a church.
Early Sunday morning, police were called to investigate several acts of criminal mischief that had occurred along Shore Road.
Police Chief Michael Boyd said the investigation revealed several properties had sustained damaged, including St. Joseph Church. A large rock was thrown through the church’s stained-glass windows and a religious statue was overturned, Boyd said.
Several other properties were vandalized and some of those also had lawn decorations, such as bird baths and flags, stolen from their yards, Boyd said.
Police charged Dustin Heath, 24, and John Rosen, 23, both of Somers Point with eight counts of criminal mischief and three counts of theft.
Heath and Rosen have since posted bail and were released.
