Two local charity events combined this year to raise more than $17,000, including a truckload of food for those in need, Longport Media President Dave Coskey said.

Barbara Altman’s 11th annual Turkey Drive and 103.7 WMGM’S fifth annual Operation Help concluded Monday morning when Kellogg’s delivered the food to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey Southern Branch in Egg Harbor Township.

“It’s the largest single contribution of food that Operation Help has ever gotten, which is great, but from our standpoint it was also the easiest, too, because they backed the tractor-trailer up and they used a forklift to get pallets out of the truck,” Coskey said. “It was a nice way to finish off Operation Help, especially with the storm and the way everyone was so impacted by the storm.”
