VENTNOR -- A man was arrested for attempted sexual assault after he attacked a jogger who was able to fight him off, police said.
The 22-year-old city woman told police she was running down the Boardwalk at about 10 p.m. Sunday night when a man she had seen on a bike came up behind her and put her in a choke hold, Chief Michael Miller said.
She was able to drive him to the ground, where they continued to wrestle, according to the report. The woman told police she believed the man was trying to get her down the steps onto the beach.
The woman -- whose name is not being released due to the nature of the allegations -- was able to get away and went into 5000 Boardwalk, where she called police, Miller said.
Allis Chalmers-Guzman, 18, of Ventnor, was arrested a short time later at Nashville and Atlantic avenues. The woman positively identified him.
He was charged with criminal attempted sexual assault, simple assault and criminal restraint.
Chalmers-Guzman is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $50,000 bail.
The woman did not have any significant physical injuries, according to the report.
