Ventnor beaches will not have lifeguards after Labor Day.

Stan Bergman, chief of Ventnor’s Beach Patrol, said Saturday that the department does not have enough money to staff lifeguards on the beaches after Monday. The beaches will remain open but unprotected, he said.

In previous years, the city was able to provide lifeguards following the holiday, but the department was unable this year, he said.

“We didn’t have too many rainy days,” he said.
