VINELAND — A city man was charged for driving while intoxicated three times in 16 days.

A Vineland police officer was stopped April 25 in a northbound lane of Delsea Drive at Landis avenue when a vehicle traveling west on Landis Avenue failed to stop at a red light and came to a rest about six feet into the officer’s lane, police said.

When police pulled over the driver — Anderson Sotomayor, 45, of Almond Road — an open container of beer was found in his possession, police said.

Sotomayor was cited for nearly a dozen traffic violations, including driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.

Sotomayor had also been charged with driving while intoxicated on April 9 and April 11, police said. He was charged with multiple offenses, including failure to stop, for an April 2 accident he was involved in, police said.

Sotomayor had outstanding contempt warrants and was sent to the Cumberland County jail, police said.

The Associated Press could not reach him for comment Wednesday.
