VINELAND — A local man missing since he supposedly left for a fishing trip on May 9 is dead, city police said.

State Police found the body of Jamie Torres in Pittsgrove Township, Salem County, on Saturday, they said Tuesday.

The investigation into Torres’ death is under the jurisdiction of State Police, city authorities said. There is no indication that foul play was involved, they said.

Torres, 42, left his house at about 6 p.m. after telling his wife he was going fishing, possibly in Fortescue, Downe Township, with some other people, and would return late that night, city police said.

Torres did not return home that night, they said. Calls placed to Torres’s cell phone by his wife, Moran Davidovich-Torres, went straight to his voice mail, they said.

Davidovich-Torres said her husband has never gone missing like this before, police said. The woman also said that her husband is a diabetic and requires medication for his condition, they said.

Torres owns the “Cash for Gold” store on High Street in Millville.
