VINELAND – City police have charged a Camden County woman with stealing five televisions from the local Walmart on Friday.

Local authorities said they watched store surveillance videotape that showed Maria E. Marty, 33, of Heron Drive, Sicklerville, loading the televisions and a box of diapers into a shopping cart and leaving the store without paying for the goods.

Marty surrendered to city police after they called her and asked her to report to the Police Department to discuss the incident, authorities said. Marty “immediately apologized for taking the items and stated she knew it was wrong and she shouldn’t have done it,” police said in a statement.

In all, Marty is accused of making off with $944.47 worth of merchandise, police said. She was charged with shoplifting.

Marty was taken to the Cumberland County jail in Bridgeton after police discovered she was wanted on contempt of court warrants issued in Cumberland, Gloucester and Camden counties.
