An unidentified man was arrested Tuesday after he robbed the Newfield Bank on Landis Avenue in Vineland, police said.

Vineland Officer Scott O’Neill was waved down by a Vineland resident at about 2:33 p.m. and told of the robbery.

O’Neill was told the suspect, who has not been identified by police, fled into the city of Vineland’s free parking lot at Sixth and Wood streets, police said.

When the man was located by police, he jumped into a vehicle in the parking lot and fled from the area.

Police pursued the man from Vineland through Buena Vista Township, in Atlantic County, into Franklin Township, Gloucester County, where the chase ended in a motor vehicle accident.

The man fled from the damaged vehicle and was apprehended in a wooded area near the crash scene, police said.

He was treated for injuries he suffered from the crash at the South Jersey Regional Medical Center and was later sent to the Cumberland County jail.
