VINELAND — City police say the suspect who allegedly robbed the Newfield National Bank branch on Main Road here Friday morning was armed.

Local authorities are warning people to stay away from anyone matching the suspect’s description and to immediately report that man’s whereabouts to city police.

Police said the man entered the bank at 10:02 a.m. and demanded money from a teller. The man got an undisclosed amount of money and then fled the bank on foot, they said.

No one was injured during the robbery, police said.

Police are identifying the suspect as white and having a thin build. The man wore a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, light-colored sweatpants or jeans, and a black mask, they said.

“Do not approach anyone fitting that description,” police said in a statement. “Report all suspicious activity in that area.”

Persons with information about the suspect and robbery can call the city Police Department at 856-696-1212, or Det. Kristian Kirchner at 856-691-4111, ext. 4656.

Crime Stoppers of Vineland is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading the arrest of the suspect.
