VINELAND – City police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a kidnapping and theft-by-extortion investigation here.

Authorities said Edward D. Collins is also allegedly passing himself off as a bounty hunter, and has made illegal arrests while working for some South Jersey bail bond agencies.

“Collins has made statements that he is a bounty hunter working for the (state) Attorney General’s Office, which is found to be false,” police here say in a statement.

No further information was immediately available.

Anyone with information about Collins whereabouts, or who has had contact with Collins when he portrayed himself as a bounty hunter or law enforcement agent, can contact Det. Ron DeMarchi at 856-691-4111, ext. 4317
