VINELAND - Vineland public school students will have to wait a few days longer before starting their summer vacation.
The school district announced today that three school days lost when schools closed because of bad winter weather will be added to the end of the school year.
That means the last regular day for students, barring any further problems caused by bad weather, will be June 21. That's also the date of Vineland High School's 133rd commencement exercises at Gittone Stadium.
"The decision to extend the school year is consistent with the wishes of the committee that designed the 2010-2011 (school) calendar," a statement issued by the district reads.
And as for next year, the local Board of Education is expected to approve the 2011-2012 school year calendar at its April meeting.
