Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts.

For the next week, South Jersey residents can expect highs in the mid- to upper 50s as weather patterns block cold air from traveling across the Northeast, said Anthony Gigi, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. Wednesday’s recorded high at Atlantic City International Airport in Egg Harbor Township was 55 degrees. Temperatures will not approach record levels, but they will be a nice break from the normal temperatures during this time of year, which are typically 10 to 15 degrees colder.

“Eventually there will be a cold stretch in there,” Gigi said. “People may want it to be in the winter (rather) than stretch into spring. Cold in the spring hurts more. The winter is supposed to be cold.”

There is a chance of precipitation Friday and Sunday, but nothing excessive, he said.
