Wind gusts reached 50 miles per hour throughout South Jersey early Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Atlantic City International Airport recorded 54 mile per hour wind gusts, which meteorologist Mike Gorse called, "pretty robust, especially for this time of year."

West Atlantic City and Oceanville recorded wind gusts of 51 miles per hour, Gorse said. Wind speeds peaked between 2:30 and 4 a.m. Thursday morning.

In Atlantic City, police responded to arcing wires and downed traffic lights. Winds caused a partial roof collapse at the Comfort Inn & Suites in West Atlantic City Wednesday night. No one was injured in the collapse.

As of 6 a.m., Atlantic City Electric's outage map was reporting about 4,000 customers without power in Atlantic County. The outages are scattered throughout the area, mostly on the islands. About 2,300 outages are reported in Inlet section of Atlantic City. There are about 400 reported to be without power in Cape May County and no outages reported in Ocean County, according to the map.

Most outages are projected to be restored by 11 a.m. Thursday, according to the map.

Temperatures reached 60 degrees throughout South Jersey Wednesday. Gorse said temperatures should drop down to 40 degrees by Thursday night, which is normal for this time of year.
