A Salem County woman faces drunken-driving charges after allegedly striking an Atlantic City police vehicle early Saturday and fleeing the scene, police said.

Sgt. Monica McMenamin said Officer Joe Donatucci was on patrol at about 4:30 a.m. when a passenger van struck the passenger side of his vehicle at the intersection of Indiana and Atlantic avenues.

Donatucci pursued the vehicle as it fled the scene and left the city via the Atlantic City Expressway. He stopped the van near the Pleasantville exit.

The van’s driver, Monica Ryals, 44, of Salem, was charged with driving while intoxicated and other motor vehicle offenses.

Donatucci was treated and released from AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, for a back injury.
