ATLANTIC CITY - A woman was shot just before 1 a.m. inside a pizza parlor, police said.
Police have identified the victim as Tarra Rodriguez, 24, of Atlantic City.
Rodriguqez was inside Chelsea Pizza II when she was struck in the back by a bullet that was shot from outside, Sgt. Monica McMenamin said.
ShotSpotter -- the city's audio gunshot -detection system -- first alerted police to the shooting. A call to 911 came a short time later.
Officers responded to the shop on the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue for a female lying facedown inside, according to the report.
The shooter was seen running north on Indiana Avenue and through the Sun Bank parking lot. He was described as a 5-foot-11 dark-skinned black male with a thin build and braids. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes.
The intended target of the shooting is described as a short, light-skinned black male with a heavy build, last seen with a dog that was described as a pitbull, McMenamin said. He fled the scene and has not come forward to speak with police.
