A Pennsylvania woman won nearly $1 million playing slots at the Borgata this week — on her birthday.
The woman, from Bensalem, Pa., wished to remain anonymous.
A statement from the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa said that the woman was celebrating both her and her cousin's birthday Monday night. She had only played $50 when she hit a jackpot of $924,231.89 on a $1 "Wheel of Fortune" progressive slot machine.
Borgata quoted the woman as saying she didn't know what happened until the woman two seats across from her yelled out that she had hit the jackpot.
“I’m still in shock,” the woman is quoted as saying.
The near-million dollar payout was the third time in two months that there has been a major jackpot at the Borgata.
On New Year's Eve, a Maryland man won $3.8 million on a similar "Wheel of Fortune" slot machine, and in January, Aubrey G. Hart Jr., of Virginia, won $250,000.
The Borgata said it has paid out more than $5 million in slot jackpots over the past seven weeks.
